February 13: Harmony Museum's Annual Harmoniefest. Fundraiser, dinner and historical program. 6 PM in Stewart Hall at the museum, 218 Mercer St. Commemorates Harmony's 1804 founding by German Lutheran Separatists organized as the communal Harmony Society. Author Wayne A. Cole, who recently published Ghost Rails VI - The Harmony Route, will describe the Pittsburgh, Harmony, Butler and New Castle Railway in an illustrated presentation and sign copies of the book, which will be available for purchase. The electrified Harmony Route operated during the first third of the 20th century and had a powerhouse and car servicing barn a mile east of Harmony; the power station's dam on the Connoquenessing Creek at Eidenau survived until it was removed in 2009.
