The Strand Theater Presents: Kung Fu Panda
Starring the Voices of: Jack Black, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie & Jackie Chan

Originally intended as a parody, Director John Wayne Stevenson instead opted to pay tribute to Hong Kong 'Action Cinema' by creating an action/comedy/martial arts film. In fact, the individual fighting styles of the Furious Five (Crane, Mantis, Tiger, Monkey and Viper) are actual martial arts styles modeled after these particular animals. The computer animation in the film was more complex than anything DreamWorks had done before.

Stevenson and Dreamworks were rewarded for their attention to detail and vivid storytelling with the number one animated film of 2008 and the biggest Box Office opening ever for a Dreamworks non-sequel.

Kung Fu Panda tells the story of Po, a dedicated, but inept martial arts student, whose obvious lack of skill and less-than-physical-perfection body type draws the scorn of The Furious Five, the very martial arts heroes that he idolizes. But none are as surprised as Po when he is chosen to become 'The Dragon Warrior'; the Kung Fu Master who can protect the Valley of Peace. But the vengeful Tai Lung has other ideas as he escapes from prison to claim the title - and the powerful secrets of the Dragon Scroll - for himself.

Friday, September 3, 7:30pm

Saturday, September 4, 7:30pm

NEW Sunday Matinee Time, September 5, 4:00pm

HERBE'S Z-TOWN CAFE right down the street is open on Friday and Saturday nights after the movie for dessert and coffee. Closed Sundays.

Rated PG for sequences of martial arts action and violence, some sequences of which could be frightening to younger children.
