Hit the road and follow your taste buds on Butler County’s newest way to explore the area - the Butler County Sweet Tooth Trail, a self-guided tour of local bakeries, ice cream shops, and candy stores. Feel like a kid again, or bring them along, as you savor the flavors of Butler County’s finest chocolate, baked goods, ice cream, shaved ice and even nostalgic candies.
How it works:
Create your own itinerary on this tasty trail and fill up your passport with a specially designed symbol from each participating location. Move on to the next sweet spot at your leisure. Once your passport is complete, bring it to Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau to claim a commemorative prize and be entered into the grand prize drawing for a sweet-themed gift basket!
*Note: The Snowman is open seasonally, from April-September. You may still turn in your passport when their business is temporarily closed; however all other participating locations must be visited.

Passports can be picked up at participating Sweet Tooth Trail locations, the Tourism Bureau or any of the Bureau's 35 brochure racks throughout the county.

Sweet Tooth Trail Children’s Activities
Enjoy this hands-on, printable activity packet for elementary-aged children. While your family completes the Butler County Sweet Tooth Trail, your kids will be busy recording their favorite sweet treats and special memories along the trail in a written and visual journal activity. From the second you walk into Mainstreet Bake Shop, you’ll know you’re in for a scrumptious treat. This one-of-a-kind bakery features delicious handmade scones, pastries, pies, cupcakes, donuts, cinnamon rolls and of course their signature wedding cakes.

Cranberry Township’s newest bakery is “nothing bundt” spectacular! They feature 10 different bundt cake flavors in various sizes such as bite-sized Bundtinis, miniature Bundtlets, and 8" and 10" cakes. Each cake, whether big or small, is crowned with their signature cream cheese frosting; making each bite irresistible.
Fan Favorites: Bundtinis (sold by the dozen) and Bundlets (personal-sized cakes). Top flavors include Chocolate Chocolate Chip, Red Velvet, White Chocolate, Raspberry and Lemon
Come enjoy the sights and smells at this quaint little Bake Shop in Evans City. They have unique hand pies available in assorted fruits and creams, and also feature a large variety of delicious baked goods made on site daily.

The Two Fraus Bakery specializes in a variety of breads and “not your average cookies”. This all natural, from scratch bakery, never uses boxed or pre-mixes and keeps their ingredients as local as possible. Enjoy all types of scrumptious treats, and be sure to stop in on “Pretzel Saturdays” for a wide variety of homemade pretzels; but get there early because they sell out fast!

This award-winning bakery provides fresh sweets daily. You’ll find gelato, chocolates, cupcakes, cakes, breakfast treats, and other specialty desserts. They also offer custom cakes and wedding cakes. A few of their awards include placing in the top 3 for Pittsburgh's Best Cupcake and Pittsburgh's Best Chocolate Chip Cookie.

You’ll literally feel like a kid in a candy store at Baldingers. As you walk in, you’ll see brightly colored sweets lining the shelves and on table displays. Enjoy browsing their large assortment of nostalgic goodies and even penny candy that only costs one cent. If you’re not looking for sweets, check out all the different cookie cutters and gift baskets available for purchase.

Mars Candy Land
Unfortunately, this business has closed. We will still honor the Sweet Tooth Trail passport without a designated mark from this business.
Since 1938, Peter’s Chocolate Shoppe has been passing down the family recipe and chocolate-making techniques from generation to generation. Their handmade candies and chocolates are produced only from the finest ingredients, and your favorite fillings, creams, caramels and nougats are all made inhouse. They specialize in chocolate covered strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and grapes (advance orders).

Speckled Hen is a gourmet chocolate company located in Saxonburg and specializes in making the most unique chocolate items imaginable! They dip fresh strawberries and berry clusters daily, have a full line of handmade chocolates including seasonally inspired cream and butter truffles, and feature 22 different flavors of homemade fudge.

This inviting chocolate and candy store features gourmet chocolates with a dose of nostalgic charm. They also offer Asher's sugar-free chocolates and Birnn Truffles.

Donut Connection in Butler is a nonprofit organization, and the money earned is reinvested in the community which enables them to serve more people and agencies in need.

Open year round, The Meadows of Cranberry Township serves freshly made frozen custard, frozen yogurt, Italian ice, and a variety of other delicious dessert treats. You’ll always find something new at The Meadows, as they feature new flavors daily for their frozen custard and frozen yogurt. Customers can also choose from a selection of pre-dipped quarts to take home.

The Snowman is a one-of-a-kind, 13-foot tall roadside attraction in Portersville near Moraine State Park. The menu selection offers a variety of refreshing, frozen treats and 30 flavors of shaved ice (6 sugar free). Open April-September.
