Big Fairs, Big Events, Butler’s Big Economic Driver

Fairs, festivals, and events, like the 10 listed below, are great ways to celebrate a community’s heritage and lifestyle, but they can also be major economic drivers bringing consumers from miles away. In turn, this can drive overnight stays at local hotels, countless meals at surrounding restaurants, and other ancillary activities and spending opportunities.Here’s only 10 of the hundreds of events that we are looking forward to in Butler County in 2023!

Moraine State Park Winterfest
February 4
This annual winter celebration is held at McDanels Launch on the North Shore of Moraine State Park. It’s a free family event that features activities that are snowy and cold months friendly as well!  There are demonstrations, entertainment, vendors and more!

Mars New Year Festival
June 9 - 10
Happy New Year! No, it’s not belated! Mars New Year Festival is a family friendly community event held on the streets of Mars, Pa., which celebrates the town’s  fascination and curiosity with outer space and humankind's journey to the moon, its namesake planet, and beyond. It will be out of this world! 

Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival
June 9 - 11
Plan a trip to the Birthplace of the Jeep®  to experience the original Jeep Invasion in downtown Butler, hit the off-road trails, shop for your next Jeep part or accessory, or simply show off your Jeep and enjoy the Jeep lifestyle! From military history lovers and show 'n shiners to off-roaders and all types of Jeep owners, All Roads Lead to Bantam!

Big Butler Fair
June 30 - July 8

The Big Butler Fair is the largest in Western Pennsylvania and considered by many to be the best fair in the country. Year after year, families from all over Pennsylvania, Ohio, New York and West Virginia come to The Big Butler Fair to enjoy fireworks, the midway, games, demolition derbies, concerts and truck pulls.

Cranberry Community Days
July 13 - 15

Cranberry's largest event of the year draws more than 48,000 people at Community Park! It’s three days of fun including live music, car cruise, 5k race, pancake breakfast, home run derby, fireworks and more!

Zelienople Horse Trading Days
July 20 - 22

This celebration of Zelienople has grown to one of the largest in the area and welcomes as many as 40,000 guests each year. Visitors can tour historic sites, enjoy free concerts, explore unique stores, and dine at Zelienople’s fine restaurants and cafes.

Moraine State Park Regatta
Aug. 5 - 6

The regatta showcases eco-recreational activities for all ages and promotes Moraine State Park. Featuring water and land recreational opportunities for all ages, nature-themed experiences and vendors from the local community, the event has something for everyone.

Butler Farm Show
Aug. 7 - 12

The Farm Show showcases Butler County’s farming community. Farm-related activities include judging, exhibits & demonstrations, animals, arts & crafts, and farm products. Also, don’t forget to check out the truck & tractor pulls, midway, music, entertainment, and rides.

Butler Italian Festival

This tasty event celebrates its 6th year in 2023!  Enjoy and take part in one of the region's largest heritage festivals, a three-day tribute and traditional “Taste of Italy.” A blend of savory food, distinctive music and entertainment all flavored with the welcoming family feel and merriment that makes the Italian culture “divertente e fantastico” [fun and great]!

Slippery Rock’s VillageFest

VillageFest includes more than 100 craft and food vendors, live entertainment, kids’ activities, games and more. The event, usually held in early fall, attracts between 5-7,000 visitors each year along Main Street in Slippery Rock.
