12 Fantastic Festivals – Okay, we’ll be honest; there are more fairs and festivals than there are days of Christmas. Butler County features many fun events for the whole family, from one of the largest county fairs in western PA to small town events that have been around for more than 50 years. Enjoy live music, games, crafts and all sorts of great activities during your stay! Our online calendar should be your go-to stop to see what’s happening.
11 Exciting Parks – We’ll get to talking about our biggest park later but there’s much fun to be had in the numerous other great outdoor spots in the county. 10 Kids Playing – We can’t forget the entertainment and activities for kids on a family vacation! There’s always something to do for the young or young-at-heart in Butler County. They’ll love our toy stores, bowling, water parks/pools, fun centers and more! Here are some ideas to keep your little ones busy!
9 Great Golf Courses – With four courses in Butler, one in Slippery Rock, one in Harmony, two in Cranberry and another in Sarver, it’s a golfer’s dream. Each course is unique in its own way and many of them are involved in seasonal golfing promotions. Plan your next golfing trip on one of our greens!
8 Delightful Towns – While getting to here is easy due to our proximity to major highways, we invite you to take the roads less traveled and explore the treasures that await in our small towns. You’re sure to find that special shop, historical artifact or memorable meal in the towns of Butler County. Spend a visit exploring Butler, Cranberry, Saxonburg (pictured), Slippery Rock, Zelienople, Harmony, Evans City or Mars (Yes, there is life on Mars!).
7 Holiday Sweets – Between the bakeries, chocolate shops and candy stores, you’re sure to find something to satisfy your sweet tooth. For baked goods, try Pennie’s Bake Shop, Peace Love & Little Donuts, Carol’s Pastry Shop, Main Street Bake Shop, Tin Man Sweets and the Arrogant Bean. If you want to take care of your chocolate fix or grab a candy concoction, shop at Baldinger’s Candy, Cumming’s Candy, Peter’s Chocolate Shoppe, Speckled Hen Chocolate Company, Wendereusz’s Candy or Edible Arrangements.

5 Alpaca Farms – For whatever reason, alpaca just seem to love Butler County (what’s not to love!). We have five alpaca farms scattered throughout with herds of alpaca (and sometimes baby cria) just waiting to meet you. Asgard Acres Alpaca is located in Renfrew; Alpaca Palace is located in Butler; Old Point Alpaca Park (pictured) is located in Chicora; West Park Alpacas is located in Slippery Rock; Santa’s Heritage Farm is located in Mars.
4 Ice Cold Brews – In the mood for a craft brew? Butler County now has four microbreweries each with their own atmosphere and flavor. North Country Brewing Company (pictured) is located in Slippery Rock; ShuBrew Handcrafted Ales is located in Zelienople; Reclamation Brewery and soon-to-be-open Butler Brew Works are located in downtown Butler.
3 Original Wines – Whether you like red or white, you’ll definitely be able to find something to suit your taste buds in Butler County. Winfield Winery (pictured) and Rustic Acres Winery produce fine spirits right here in Butler County. Look out for Anna Marie’s Winery & Cafe set to open soon! You can also visit the Deer Creek Winery store at Clearview Mall and the Mazza Wine Shop located in Baldinger’s Candy Store.
2 Butler County Baskets – The Best of Butler County Basket is perfect for any occasion and will fill your home with the rich spices and local flavor of Butler County, Pennsylvania. The baskets are put together by Speckled Hen Chocolate Company (see #7 in this list).
and the amazing Moraine State Park – Each year, over one million boaters, hikers, bikers and swimmers visit the 16,725-acre park. With more than twenty outdoor activities available to do, giving the park a visit when you’re in Butler County is a must! Don’t forget the annual Winterfest in January and the Regatta at Lake Arthur in August!
