Free Tai Chi (World Tai Chi Day)

Instructor Bill Weber has over 20 years of experience teaching Tai Chi and is offering this one-time Tai Chi class free of charge for World Tai Chi Day. The Butler YMCA offers Tai Chi classes all year long for the mind and body benefits. There are three different styles of Tai Chi we will cover: Taoist Long Form, Tai Chi for Arthritis, and Yang Short Form. At 10 am around the world at their time practice, Tai Chi brings the world together in one breath and one body. Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art practiced for defense training, health benefits, and meditation.

One of the purposes of World Tai Chi Day is "to bring people across racial, economic, religious, and geo-political boundaries, to join together for the purpose of health and healing, providing an example to the world." Millions of people around the world—65 nations participated in 2011—gather one day each year to celebrate the health and healing benefits of Tai Chi and Qigong." This global event was founded by Bill Douglas and Angela Wong Douglas. Their book', "World T'ai Chi and Qigong Day," was a major force behind the global awareness of this health and healing event.
