Venture out from your man cave and take advantage of all that Butler County has to offer. We've designed this weekend itinerary with you in mind. Hunting, fishing, beer, racing... does it get any better?
Start your day off right by spending the morning fishing at Moraine State Park. Lake Arthur is a 3,225-acre warm water fishery with northern pike, largemouth bass, channel catfish, black crappie and bluegill.
While you're there, give Pizza Joe's Portersville a call. They'll bring you fresh, tasty pizza straight to the park.
When you’re ready to eat, take I-79 North to Slippery Rock for a unique dinner at North Country Brewing Co. Enjoy a taste of the region through a variety of in-house brews served at North Country. Make sure you take advantage of the menu’s heartier items, such as elk burgers and frog legs. You will not be disappointed.
After a hard day spent fishing, eating, and drinking spend the night at Buttercup Woodlands Campground or Locust Brook Lodge and dream about all the outdoorsy goodness of your day. We don’t think you’ll mind their rec room featuring a pool table and big screen TV.
At Four Seasons Game Bird Farm, enjoy quality pheasant and chukar hunting on 450 acres of diverse terrain with various levels of cover. Hunting is available by appointment Monday through Saturday from September through April. No license necessary. However, don’t forget your “A-Game,” trust us, you’ll need it here.
After a long day of hunting, savor a hot meal from Springfield Grille, noted for their delectable steaks and game entrée selections. For barbeque and 36 draught beers, try the Double Wide Grill, a vintage gas station turned restaurant.
Continue east and stop at Thoma's Meat Market. Pick up some beef jerky and other snacks to enjoy at your last stop for the weekend, Lernerville Speedway. Lernerville is the Home of the "Fab Four": 410 Sprints, Late Models, Modifieds and Stocks. Dirt and fast cars... what a better way to end your getaway?
