Adding and editing content
Please add content where it belongs, events should be added to the calendar, if you have a press release regarding an event, post it as a news item. If you are promoting an offer, please post it as a special offer, not as a calendar or news item. This will ensure our website is organized and visitors can find information in places where it makes sense to find them.
How do I add events to the calendar?
The calendar is a place in our website where you can post events. Help us keep the calendar uncluttered by adding only those events that are special and do not repeat on a daily or weekly basis all year.
- Login to your account
- Once logged in you will see a menu to the left, click on "Add event to calendar"
- Finally just fill out the form and submit
Note:
- We review every calendar submission and reserve the right to remove it if it does not follow our guidelines.
- Check the calendar after you post to make sure your listing is correct.
- The form will have an option for repeating events, please don't create a separate post for each day of your event.
- A special offer does not qualify as an event, there is a separate form to add your special offers.
Criteria for Calendar of Events Listings
- Events and experiences must be open to the general public.
- Events must happen within Butler County and not take people out of the county.
- Events must be tourism-related and have the ability to draw visitors from a minimum 50-mile radius. The following do not qualify as tourism-related events: fish fries, flea markets, bake sales, blood drives, yard/garage sales and any other small community events.
- Exhibits will not be featured unless they are new (under one year) or special limited-time-only displays.
- We reserve the right to remove events without notice should we determine it does not meet the necessary requirements.
Why should you add events to the calendar?
Why, we thought you'd never ask!
- We strive to be the “go to” place for events in Butler County.
- Our website gets thousands of visitors a month, and the calendar is one of the most visited pages.
- VisitButlerCounty.com is ranked high on search engines for its credibility and content quality. This will greatly increase the exposure of your event in local search results.
- Once you add an event, it is automatically distributed to the rest of our website on relevant pages. If your event is in a specific town, it will show on the sidebar of that town’s listing. If it is close to a hotel, it will show in the sidebar of that hotel’s listing… and so on.
- We add everything on the web calendar to our “master calendar” which is used all over the place…
- We send out a monthly press release, including any events we have by the 10th of the month prior. (i.e. December 10th for January events, etc.)
- We use the “master calendar” to create our tri-annual Calendar of Events brochures.
- We promote events via social media.
- We submit events to outside sources like magazines and other media venues.
- When people ask us what’s going on, we can tell them about your event!
- The bottom line is… we try to promote you as much as possible, but we can’t do that if you don’t take a few minutes to share what you’re doing.
How do I add a special offer?
Special offers can act as an incentive for people who wouldn't normally stop by your business to give it a second thought. For a special offer to work, it must offer potential patrons a benefit that is strong enough to lead them to action. Special offers include coupons, discounts, rewards, etc.
- Login to your account
- Once logged in you will see a menu to the left, click on "Create special offer"
- Fill out the form and submit
Note:
- Please remember to add location information and scheduling options both are located in the tabs at the bottom of the form.
- A special offer wouldn't be special if you offer it all the time. Please refrain from adding an offer that is available for extended periods of time like every day, or every week, all year.
How do I edit my listing?
If you recently registered as a member, we will receive a notification of your registration and then proceed to assign you your listing, once this is done, you will be able to edit your listing at your listing page or in your account page. Please keep in mind that assigning you to your listing could take a couple of days, for security purposes, this must be done manually by our staff.
