Butler County Tourism Presents Can-Am Police-Fire Games Donation to Special Olympics
(ZELIENOPLE, Pa. December 20, 2024): Over $95,000 was given to Special Olympics PA during a special presentation at Butler High School. This money is the net proceeds from the 2024 Can-Am Police-Fire Games, which took place in July across the County. During the thrilling week of competition and camaraderie, 500 athletes and their families explored, competed, and enjoyed Butler County.
This incredible donation will empower countless athletes to reach new heights and shine brightly on the field of competition. The sheriff of Butler County and 2024 Can-Am Police-Fire Games Chairman & CEO Michael T. Slupe represented the organization and presented the check.
“This presentation is a physical representation of all the hard work that made the Can-Am Games happen,” said Slupe “Part of the Games' mission is to give back to the community they are held in, and this accomplishes that.”
Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau is proud to have supported the Games and aid in this fundraising.
“The money donated today will go directly to people in our community,” said Amy Pack, President of Butler County Tourism “We want everyone to feel welcome and to thrive in Butler County. The Special Olympics supports that mission.”
This donation is the direct result of collaboration between many different people and organizations.
“We want to thank former President Jack Cohen, the Can-Am Federation Board, the sponsors, the volunteers, and Special Olympics,” said Sheriff Slupe “Being able to make this donation at this time of year is a great way to end 2024.”
