The Portersville Snowman and Butler County Libraries Launch 2nd Year of "Summer Reading is Cool" Program
BUTLER COUNTY, PA (May 20, 2024) - The Snowman in Portersville, Pa., an independent, family-owned, roadside attraction that has been serving seasonal sweet treats just outside Moraine State Park for 12 years, has donated 25, $5 gift certificates to each of the nine Butler County Area Libraries through the “Summer Reading is Cool” Reward Program. Each library will award the first 25 children who complete its summer program, according to each library’s program criteria, a $5 gift certificate.
“It is our pleasure and privilege to continue this program in our local area encouraging and incentivizing children to read.” said owners of The Snowman Brian & Debbie LaChance “When we had encouraged our children to read, the different incentives available at that time were very effective in our household.”
Participating libraries include Butler Area Public Library, Cranberry Public Library, Evans City Public Library, Mars Area Public Library, North Trails Public Library, Prospect Community Library, Slippery Rock Community Library, South Butler Community Library, and Zelienople Area Public Library.
“We are thrilled to partner with The Snowman and the LaChances,” Tiffany Harkleroad, Youth Services Manager of Butler Area Public Library. “Their support helps us reinforce that, while it’s important the entire year, summer reading is cool.”
“We are proud that one of our members is going the extra mile to create collaboration with their community,” said Butler County Tourism Bureau President Jack Cohen “These partnerships reinforce to residents and visitors alike that Butler County supports family-focused fun.”
