The roots of Butler County’s early system of education are displayed at Hickory Corner School on the campus of Slippery Rock University. The one-room school served children in grades 1-8 from 1881-1963 and is furnished true to memory, right down to desks with inkwells and a pot-bellied stove used for heat. The University opens to school for field trips and special tours.
