Moraine Preservation Fund
The Moraine Preservation Fund (MPF) is a non-profit, volunteer organization that supports Moraine State Park. MPF has helped to develop important wildlife restoration projects like Project BATitat, the Osprey and Barn Owl Reintroduction Programs, along with the creation of a Native Plant & Butterly Trail near the center. MPF volunteers also participate in wildlife education classes at schools and for other interested groups to teach the public about barn owls. MPF operates Preston's Pearl and The Owlet Gift Shop and Nature Center located at McDanel's Boat Launch, located just off the North Shore park exit on Rt. 422 in Portersville.
Formerly known as the Nautical Nature, Preston’s Pearl is the Park’s premiere attraction. This new enclosed pontoon boat increases the passenger capacity of the previous touring boat and has an upper deck for outdoor viewing. Cruises are offered on weekends from May through October, and passengers will learn about the area’s history and wildlife within Moraine State Park. Preston’s Pearl also offers environmental programs, brunch and dinner cruises, private charters for business meetings, seminars and parties. Tickets can be purchased through morainepreservationfund.org.
Our mission is to promote community stewardship of natural resources within Moraine State Park, McConnells Mill State Park & Jennings Environmental Education Center.
