Butler County Tourism to Represent American Bantam in the 2024 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix
BUTLER COUNTY, PA (March 25, 2024) – Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau is proud to announce that their collection of five antique American Bantam cars will be on display during the 2024 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix in Schenley Park, August 3-4.
The Bureau's collection consists of a roadster, a panel truck, a pickup truck, a Bantam Reconnaissance Car, and a unique hybrid vehicle named "the popcorn truck," spanning from 1930 to 1943 in production years. Each vehicle in the Bureau's collection tells a unique story of a bygone era, showcasing the craftsmanship and innovation of the automotive industry.
“The Bureau is proud to contribute our American Bantam vehicles to this event,” said Bureau President Jack Cohen. “It’s part of our heritage, history, and region and it’s the Bureau’s responsibility to raise awareness about how Butler County has impacted this country and the world.”
Butler’s Bantam history dates back to 1935 when the American Bantam Car Company purchased the American Austin Car Company and began to manufacture an American version of the English Austin. In 1940, Bantam made history by creating the world’s original Jeep. This history is celebrated annually during the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival.
The Pittsburgh Grand Prix will spotlight the iconic subcompact American Bantam cars and also the Nash Metropolitan. Registration is open now for owners to show their vehicles at the event. Registration information can be found here.
