ZELIENOPLE, PA (Sept. 16, 2022) – The artwork, Zelienople & Butler County Community Mosaic, was created by acclaimed Pittsburgh artist Daviea Davis and was made possible by a grant from the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau.
The piece features imagery of 26 different community treasures from Zelienople and from other neighboring Butler County communities.
“We’re proud to be a part of the Zelienople and Butler County communities,” said Renee Ayers, who owns and operates Spring Street Studios along with Elizabeth Fortunato. “That pride in the people that live and work here, and our shared history, is intended to be reflected in this piece. We’re thrilled to have Daviea bring her creativeness and passion and be a part of this community-based project.”
Davis is a local Pittsburgh artist who has had works displayed at the Phipps Conservatory, Pittsburgh Glass Center, and Botanical Gardens and two permanent installations at Pittsburgh International Airport. “I work with my whole heart, everyday, on my salvaged glass mosaic windows,” said Davis. “I listen to stories, and distill them into a design, full of color and meaning. I work with groups to create a lasting tribute to a time or place.”
Twenty-eight Butler County travel and tourism businesses and organizations received a total of $100,000 in grant dollars from the Butler County Tourism & Convention Bureau (BCTCB) in May as part of the BCTCB’s annual member grant program.
